Building Poems
Ceylan Öztrük
For Building Poems, Ceylan Öztrük constructs a new approach on time and space by dissolving the linear aspect of time and interfering with the solid structure of the interior. She assigns the pre-historic Venus as a common point of the past and the future – opposing the narrow perception of time – and re-narrates her position in a much broader form of time with a reference from quantum theory.
She takes the exhibition space as a domestic sphere, and adds a layer with new possibility to what already exists. In her installation, she takes elements of the space, the interior, and re-builds it in a new narration rather than its previous hard, potent attitude.
In doing so, Öztrük opens more probabilities in the non-heteronormative, withstanding a deterministic vindication, inspired by quantum theory and its philosophical aspect in physics in an artistic attitude.
