SOTO at 1.1 was a one week residence of Manuela Soto’s work at 1.1.
The tattoo artist from Lausanne, known on Instagram as @soto.gang, is strongly inspired by pop culture, 90s porn and mangas. Her tattoo flashes called #shlagtatts came to be globally recognised for their simple and accurate style that embodies the movement of re-interpreting trashy fashion and pop culture from the 90s until today.
Her body of work doesn’t limit itself to tattoos. It also includes drawings, clothing, screen prints and zines. It’s these works, some of which especially made for this residence, that were exhibited at 1.1 during one week. The tattoo artist was there to tattoo her flashes.
