In the frame of the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender in Zurich, 1.1 proudly presents two showcases with exclusive in-house production sets:
Bonaventure (Berlin) uses her music as an outlet for various personal and sociopolitical confrontations, and as an instrument to explore her own Congolese and Swiss roots. The results are energetic tracks that assume an almost mantra-like nature through their repetitive elements.
She has recently started an on-going collaboration with artist and writer Hannah Black with whom she performed at the Institute for Contemporary Arts London and at Boat Rage By Berlin Community Radio at the Berlin Biennale, amongst others.
Modulaw (Zurich) is a duo consisting of two producers who create an innovative body of work. Their tracks comprise equally as many references to Hip-Hop and R’n’B as industrial, technoid elements and an innovative sound design, interweaving to unique productions through their superposition. The sensibility with which each track is composed, carries an energy within it that is just as strong and monstrous.
In May, Modulaw released their second EP Catalysis and produced, amongst others, the EP by Zurich rapper Boeystraat Lucid Dayz, with whom they’ve also released a series of club-oriented reworks.
