Oh, have we not read uncountable times
of our system flawed and separatist
 
Well, woops, too late, baby!
 
We’re born, we work, we die
before we are recognised as humans and
before our bodies are ours.
 
We’re possessed by the organism
who has carried, birthed and built upon us.
We are to serve that boss.
 
Oh, how we dreamt of a warming body!
How we dream of its caring protection!

Claire van Lubeek (*1990 in Rotterdam) obtained her Bachelor of Arts in 2012 and is currently studying the Fine Arts Masters programme at HEAD, Geneva. She creates figurative sculptures out of a dystopian environments, working in a range of media with a focus on ceramics.
